Lawmatics vs Clio Grow is a head-to-head law firm owners ask about when they shop for an intake CRM, so this page compares the two products the way a buyer would: by what each vendor publishes.
Both are intake CRM software for law firms, covered at the category level on law firm CRM, and both automate the front half of the process described on legal intake.
Lawmatics and Clio Grow, in each vendor's own words
Lawmatics' homepage titles the product "#1 Legal Software for Law Firms & Attorneys", its own claim, and its navigation lists Lead & Client Intake, Legal CRM, Marketing Automation and Document Automation.
Its Essential plan includes client intake, lead management, calendaring, custom forms, e-signature and SMS, and Premium adds workflow and marketing automation, email marketing, and analytics and ROI tracking (Lawmatics' pricing page, October 2026).
Clio Grow is Clio's intake and CRM product: Clio's pricing page lists online client intake forms, online appointment booking and automated intake workflows under Grow, and says Grow can engage every lead by phone, web chat or email and automatically screen them for fit (October 2026).
The same page describes Grow as capturing leads, booking consultations and growing a client base with AI that works around the clock, and Clio's Elite tier lists tracking referrals and ad spend to see what is actually winning clients.
The wider category, including tools that sit alongside these two, is covered on legal intake software.
Lawmatics pricing vs Clio Grow pricing, as of October 2026
Lawmatics pricing is quote-only: the company publishes no prices, says it offers tailor-made pricing plans for law firms of all sizes, and sells Essential, Premium and Enterprise by custom quote (Lawmatics' pricing page, October 2026).
Its AI lead-qualification tool uses credit-based pricing applicable to any plan, and the same page offers a $50 gift card for taking a demo.
Clio Grow pricing has the same gap one level up: Clio's plans start at $49 per user per month across Starter, Core, Signature and Elite, but Grow is included in Elite and sold as an add-on to Core and Signature at a price Clio does not publish (Clio's pricing page, October 2026).
Clio prices Grow's AI agents at pay per matter hired with Grow AI's help, a success-shaped fee this page describes and does not assess; how a firm's state advertising rules treat fee structures is a question for that state bar's ethics counsel or an ethics lawyer.
What Lawmatics publishes (October 2026)
- No prices on the site: Essential, Premium and Enterprise by custom quote
- AI lead qualification priced by credits, on any plan
- A $50 gift card for taking a demo
What Clio publishes (October 2026)
- Plans from $49 per user per month: Starter, Core, Signature, Elite
- Grow included in Elite, sold as an add-on to Core and Signature
- Grow's add-on price: not published
- Grow AI agents: pay per matter hired with the AI's help
Neither page hands you a number you can put in a budget, so price both the same way: in writing, at your seat count, with the AI usage estimated at your inquiry volume.
Clio Grow vs Lawmatics: what each one documents
On the intake basics, the published lists overlap: Lawmatics' Essential tier includes custom forms and calendaring, and Clio's page lists online client intake forms and online appointment booking under Grow.
Follow-up channels are where the lists diverge: Lawmatics puts SMS in Essential and email marketing in Premium, while Clio's Grow description names phone, web chat and email as the channels its AI engages.
E-signature appears on one published list: Lawmatics includes it in Essential, and the Clio Grow feature list on the pricing page names forms, booking and automated workflows without naming e-signature.
Absence from a pricing page list is not proof a feature is missing, which is exactly why the demo questions below ask rather than assume.
Both document ROI reporting in their upper tiers: analytics and ROI tracking sit in Lawmatics' Premium tier, and Clio's Elite tier lists tracking referrals and ad spend to see what is actually winning clients.
On AI, Lawmatics says its tools can instantly identify and route your best leads, priced by credits, and Clio says Grow's AI engages every lead and automatically screens them for fit, priced per matter hired.
Feature lists are marketing, not measurements: we found no independent test that compares these two products for law firms, so each list tells you what the vendor chose to build and say, not what it lifts.
The intake failures both tools are sold against
The reason intake CRM exists as a category is measured, and the method-disclosed numbers come from Clio's own research.
In Clio's 2024 Legal Trends Report test, researchers posing as prospective clients contacted 500 law firms by phone and email: 52% were reached by phone, 40% picked up, and 48% were unreachable even after the chance to respond to messages.
By email, only 33% of firms responded, and only 18% answered questions about next steps or expected costs (Clio, 2024).
Substance on the phone was thin too: on calls, 41% of firms gave rate information, only 12% could estimate total cost, and 36% explained the process and next steps (Clio, 2024).
Clio's 2019 version of the study found 60% of 1,000 emailed firms never responded at all, and 79% of the 2,000 consumers surveyed said they expected a reply within 24 hours, a stated preference rather than measured behavior.
Of the people who contacted a law firm without hiring it, 64% said a firm never responded by phone or email (Clio, 2019).
Clio's 2024 secret-shopper test, 500 law firms
These are one test of 500 firms, not an industry rate, and the 2019 and 2024 studies used different designs, so read them side by side rather than as a trend.
Automated follow-up, lead routing and online booking are aimed at exactly these gaps, and the follow-up sequences themselves are covered on law firm lead follow up.
Logging a missed call does not answer it, so who picks up (a person, or at Clio, Grow's AI phone agent) is a question to test in each demo.
On whether the technology pays for itself, the published evidence is a vendor correlation: Clio reports that firms using certain client-facing technologies earned about twice as many leads and twice as much revenue, with a headline figure of 52% more revenue, two figures that do not match and no published method, from a company that sells the tools (Clio, 2024).
Lawmatics or Clio Grow: how to decide
With no published ranking to lean on, the decision is a fit test you run yourself, in this order.
- Mystery-shop your own firm first, by phone, email and chat, logging answer rate, reply time and whether cost and next steps came up; the scoring criteria are Clio's, the test design is ours.
- Ask Lawmatics for the quote in writing: tier, seats, and what AI credits cost at your monthly inquiry volume.
- Ask Clio what the Grow add-on adds per user on Core or Signature, what Elite costs at your seat count, and what a matter hired with Grow AI's help costs.
- Score both demos on one sheet: capture, screening, booking, follow-up, reporting by source, and how you get your data out if you leave.
- Model the usage pricing at your own volume, because credits at Lawmatics and per-matter fees on Grow AI both scale with inquiry count.
Take both demos: Lawmatics offers a $50 gift card for taking one (October 2026), which makes the comparison cheap.
If AI screening or a per-matter fee ends up in the proposal, run the details past your state bar's ethics counsel or an ethics lawyer, because state advertising rules differ and this page does not assess any fee structure under them.
Where More Booked Cases fits
More Booked Cases does not sell, set up or resell either product, and this page is information for firms choosing between them.
What Gabe does is test the website and landing pages, one controlled test a month, and measure consultation and signed-case rates with read access to the firm's intake or CRM numbers, so the work is judged on cases signed rather than form fills.
He does not staff intake, answer calls or train intake staff.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Lawmatics cost?
Lawmatics publishes no prices: its Essential, Premium and Enterprise plans sell by custom quote, and its AI lead-qualification tool uses credit-based pricing on any plan (Lawmatics' pricing page, October 2026).
How much does Clio Grow cost?
Clio's plans start at $49 per user per month as of October 2026; Clio Grow is included in the Elite plan and sold as an add-on to Core and Signature at a price Clio does not publish, and Grow's AI agents are priced per matter hired with the AI's help.
What is Clio Grow used for?
Clio describes Grow as its intake and CRM product: online client intake forms, online appointment booking and automated intake workflows, with AI that engages leads by phone, web chat or email and automatically screens them for fit.
Which is better for a law firm, Lawmatics or Clio Grow?
This page does not rank them, because we found no independent test that compares the two products' results for law firms. The documented differences are pricing transparency and pricing model, and the better fit depends on which stage of your own funnel leaks, which a mystery-shop of your firm will show.
Does More Booked Cases sell or resell Lawmatics or Clio Grow?
No. Gabe tests websites and landing pages and measures consultation and signed-case rates with read access to the firm's intake or CRM numbers; he does not sell software, staff intake or answer calls.
