Avvo alternatives for a US law firm come in four groups: another lawyer directory, Google Local Services Ads, membership lead services such as LegalMatch, and the channels the firm owns.

This page compares services, prices and contract terms, checked on each company's own site in October 2026 and reported without rankings.

The directory-by-directory rundown lives in the best lawyer directories; this page is the instead-of-Avvo decision.

What you would be replacing at Martindale-Avvo

Martindale-Avvo, the company behind Avvo, says its portfolio spans Martindale-Hubbell, Avvo, Nolo, Ngage Live Chat, Lawyers.com and Captorra, claiming over 25 million monthly consumers (October 2026).

The one published price belongs to ProVantage, its core "legal profile solution": enhanced attorney and firm profiles on Martindale, Avvo and Lawyers.com, starting at $399 per month for the first user (October 2026).

That is a starting price; everything else, leads and chat included, is priced "available upon request".

Its LeadDirect page advertises an "8-15% Average Conversion Rate" and 2.5x ROI without disclosing what counts as a conversion or the sample, so read those as marketing claims.

Its FAQ says many attorneys sign annual contracts while Pay-Per-Lead can be cancelled at any time, and that it does not reimburse bad leads because they are vetted.

ChatVantage runs on Ngage operators who answer website visitors around the clock, also priced on request (Ngage's site, October 2026).

Its footer says the site "does not constitute a lawyer referral service" and that attorney listings are paid attorney advertisements.

Whether an Avvo profile itself earns its fee is a separate question: is Avvo worth it for lawyers.

How this list was built

We started from what Google returns for this search and the published roundups, then checked every option on its own site (October 2026).

Only companies whose own pages we could read made the list; nothing is scored or ranked.

Directory alternatives: Justia and Super Lawyers

Justia Lawyer Directory

Justia is the independent option, focused in its own words solely on lawyers and law firms (its site, October 2026).

Its Lawyer Directory gives any licensed attorney a free, full-featured profile.

The published price is Justia Connect Pro, $19.99 per month or $199.80 per year, with $200 in annual Justia credit toward other services (October 2026).

Premium placements buy priority placement, competitor-ad removal and analytics; its SEO, websites and PPC are priced on request, with contract terms unpublished.

Its Amplify Advance adds Microsoft Advertising PPC, Google Local Services Ads and Facebook remarketing; that is the extent of its Meta advertising.

The head-to-head is in Avvo vs Justia.

Super Lawyers, and the rest of that portfolio

Super Lawyers is a rating plus a directory: its selection page says the list is the top 5 percent of lawyers in the state, lawyers cannot nominate themselves, and it quotes a court record saying no purchase is required (October 2026).

It is not independent of Avvo: FindLaw lists SuperLawyers.com among its four directory sites, and FindLaw's FAQ says it became part of the Martindale-Avvo portfolio under Internet Brands at the end of 2024.

FindLaw, the portfolio's full-service arm, sells websites, SEO, directories, PPC, social media and intake, customized per client with no prices published.

Google Local Services Ads

Google Local Services Ads are pay-per-lead ads on Google, with different mechanics from any subscription.

You pay per valid lead (calls, messages, bookings) against a weekly budget you set; prices vary with location, job type, lead type and bidding mode, and Google publishes none (its help pages, October 2026).

The badge is now Google Verified (formerly Google Screened), and Google has discontinued the money-back guarantee under the old Google Guarantee badge (October 2026).

Categories from bankruptcy to personal injury each require professional liability insurance and state bar license checks; background checks apply to select users only.

Google is migrating Local Services Ads into Performance Max in phases through 2026 and 2027; its timeline does not name legal, so nobody can say when law firms move.

Avvo vs Google Local Services Ads compares the two pay-per-lead models.

The alternative you own: your site and Google Business Profile

The last group is not sold by subscription: your website and your Google Business Profile.

Google says it never accepts payment to include or rank sites in organic results, so this lane is bought with work, not media (Google Search Central, updated June 2026).

Avvo leads alternatives

If what you want is inquiries rather than a listing, the models differ more than the brands.

LegalMatch sells attorney memberships that deliver case leads by email or app in your practice area and location; prices are not published, a "guest pass" previews live cases, and it says a new member is likely to be matched within 24 to 48 hours (its attorney page, October 2026).

Its testimonials are marketing, not data, and it does not say whether leads are shared.

What lawyers pay per lead covers the per-lead market.

From each company's own pages, October 2026. Position is our reading, not a ranking.

Pay a platform

  • A listing, a lead flow or an ad position on someone else's audience.
  • Most options publish no price; Martindale-Avvo's one published number is a starting price.
  • The vendor counts its own metric: leads delivered or valid calls.

Build owned channels

  • Your website, domain, Google Business Profile and analytics stay yours.
  • Google says nobody can pay it for organic ranking, so this work compounds.
  • More Booked Cases works here, judging tests on consultations and signed cases.

What the rules say about paying for each

Here is the model text; the payment itself is what your state's rules reach.

ABA Model Rule 7.2(b), as amended in 2018, bars giving anything of value for recommending a lawyer's services; exceptions include the reasonable cost of advertising and the usual charges of a qualified lawyer referral service.

Comment [2] defines a recommendation as a communication that endorses or vouches for a lawyer's credentials or character, and says practice-area directory listings, without more, are not recommendations.

Sponsored "recommended" placements are where that line gets argued; the comment does not say how any product is treated.

Comment [5] allows paying for client leads only when the generator does not recommend the lawyer, the payment is consistent with Rules 1.5(e) and 5.4, and the generator's communications are consistent with Rule 7.1.

The same comment bars paying a generator that implies it is recommending you, referring without payment, or has analyzed the person's problem to pick you.

ABA Formal Opinion 501 (April 13, 2022) concluded that a lawyer who kept accepting clients from a soliciting lead generator, without training or supervising the vendor, violated Rules 5.3(b) and 5.3(c); ABA opinions are advisory, not binding.

Model Rules bind no one until a state adopts them, your state's rule controls, and before you sign a listing or a lead program, confirm the arrangement with your state bar's ethics counsel or an ethics lawyer.

How to judge whichever you pick

The test is the one every channel answers to: what it cost, and what it signed.

Cost per lead is the vendor's unit; consultations booked and cases signed are yours, and the arithmetic is in cost per signed case.

Give any listing its own phone number or form so the count is clean.

  • Is the price published, or only a sales call?
  • What is the minimum term, and what does cancelling take?
  • When a rate is advertised, what counts as a conversion?
  • Does the product list you by practice area, or recommend you?
  • What do you still own the day after you cancel?

Where More Booked Cases fits

More Booked Cases is the owned-channels option: one person, Gabe Meierotto, working with US law firms only.

CRO is $2,500/mo for one controlled test a month, local SEO is $2,500/mo, the pair is $5,000/mo on a 6-month minimum, and managed Meta ads are $3,000/mo plus a $2,500 setup on a 3-month minimum.

Each test is judged by consultations booked and cases signed, with read access to the firm's intake or CRM numbers.

The conversion record behind the work is Gabe's, from before this company existed: as Director of CRO at LaserAway from 2018 to 2023, sitewide conversion went from 3% to 11% on a program that returned 210x.

The motion is a free audit: a prioritized plan in 3 business days, no call required, then one test a month.

Frequently asked questions

Do any of these alternatives share an owner with Avvo?

Yes: FindLaw's FAQ says it became part of the Martindale-Avvo portfolio under Internet Brands at the end of 2024, and FindLaw lists SuperLawyers.com among its four directory sites, so Super Lawyers sits in the same portfolio. Justia is independent, and Google and LegalMatch are separate companies.

Which Avvo alternatives publish their prices?

As of October 2026: Justia Connect Pro is $19.99 a month or $199.80 a year, and More Booked Cases publishes all of its prices. Martindale-Avvo's one published number is a $399 a month starting price for ProVantage; Super Lawyers advertising, Google's Local Services Ads and LegalMatch publish no prices.

Are Avvo leads exclusive?

Martindale-Avvo says every LeadDirect lead is exclusive, verified and delivered in real time, and that it does not reimburse bad leads because the leads are vetted. That is the company's own wording on its LeadDirect page, as of October 2026.

Does Google publish Local Services Ads lead prices for lawyers?

No. Google says Local Services Ads charge per valid lead, that prices vary with location, job type, lead type and bidding mode, and that message leads are typically priced lower than phone leads; it publishes no lead prices.

What is the best alternative to Avvo for a law firm?

There is no single best one, and this page ranks none. A firm that needs demand this month is shopping a lead channel; a firm that gets traffic but loses it before the consultation needs conversion work on the channels it owns.

Does More Booked Cases manage Google Local Services Ads?

No. Gabe runs managed Meta ads and does not manage Google Ads or Local Services Ads; the work here is conversion testing and local SEO on the firm's own website and Google Business Profile.
